Thing #2 Accomplished!

So Thing #2 is RSS feeds.  I’ve now spent an hour setting up a page at Netvibes and adding not only library widgets, but also a quilt page with widgets to some of my favorite quilting blogs (like Sew Mama Sew and Old Red Barn Co.).  Yeah!  And “widget” is another new term that I’ve (kind of) learned.  Widgets are like little windows on your page that link you to your favorite blogs and other websites.  The content changes as the content at the particular blog or website changes.  Cool.

I feel like I need to explore Netvibes more and play with my page and tabs.  It seems like it might have a lot of potential for helping me organize myself online, but I’m not sure if it will eventually save me time, or it will just be a time sucker-upper.  We’ll see.  In the mean time, I’ve at least accomplished our 2nd task and I’m off to catch up on Thing #3: Podcasts.

Blog Virgin No Longer

I’m starting this “All Together Now: A 2.0 Learning Experience” a few days late, with much enthusiasm and not a little trepidation.  I’ve been trying to define “2.0″ technologies in my mind for quite some time, so I’m looking forward to experiencing and experimenting with some of them.  I’ve been feeling a bit behind, as I hear terms like “RSS feeds” and “widgets,” with no clue as to what they mean.  I’m hoping for some enlightenment over the next 6 weeks.  And look!  Already I’ve progressed!  I am no longer a Blog Virgin.  :^)
